Objetivos
El objetivo del curso es de enseñar en cinco días, los principios fundamentales subyacentes a la utilización de ArcGIS 9.2. Después de este curso el estudiante estará en condiciones de evaluar la utilidad de los sistemas de información geográfica en la investigación científica, de integrar los datos que proceden de diferentes orígenes en ArcGIS, cartografiar correctamente estos datos y ejecutar diversos procesos que permitirán generar datos derivados. Algunos elementos de estadística espacial y de geoestadística serán abordados.
Contenido
Un curso magistral de un día y medio introducirá al estudiante a los principios básicos de los sistemas de información geográfica haciendo énfasis en las particularidades de ArcGIS. El resto de la semana se enfocará en la realización de los ejercicios prácticos utilizando la computadora, lo cual permitirá integrar los principios aprendidos durante la formación magistral.

- Introducción a los sistemas de información geográfica
Modelisación, importancia de la información geográfica, ventaja de los SIG, ejemplos de aplicaciones (ingeniería civil, epidemiología, ingeniería forestal), principios básicos (adquisición y tratamiento de datos, vectorial y matricial, 2d vs 3d, capa de información). - Formatos de datos
Tabla vs base de datos (juntura relacional), información vectorial (punto, línea, polígono, formatos coverage, shapefile, geodatabase, topología), información matricial (formatos, georeferencia), TIN, metadatos, precisión de datos. - Proyectados y cartográfia (ArcMap)
El problema de las proyecciones, tipos de proyecciones, tipo de mapas, representación y simbolización, toponimia, layout, problemas unidos a la representación. - Gestión, tratamiento y edición de datos (ArcCatalog y ArcMap Editor)
Gestión de los datos, importación de datos de GPS, edición de datos, otros programas de conversión. - Análisis espacial, estadística espacial y geoestadística (ArcToolbox y Spatial Analyst)
Geoprocessing, vectorial (transformaciones, selecciones, buffer, operaciones, junturas espaciales) y matricial (transformaciones, Grid Calculador, funciones globales, zonales, focales), Model Builder, estadística espacial, autocorrelacion, kriging, problemas unidos al análisis espacial (MAUP). - Vistazo de algunas extensiones a ArcGIS

Ejercicios prácticos
- Integración de datos en ArcGIS
Constitución de uno fichero cartográfico comprendiendo todos los tipos de datos útil (regiones administrativas, carreteros, población, cobertura forestal, elevación, estadística (económica), GPS, fotos (georreferenciación) y datos derivados (preparación y conversión de datos, vectorisación, proyectados, edición de datos vectorial)). - Cartografía básica y edición
Representación de las diferentes capas, corrección de problemas de topología, creación de uno modelo 3D. - Análisis espaciales
Operación de análisis espaciales vectoriales (intersección, buffer) y matricial (Grid Calculator) con el sistema des ejercicios anterior. Identificación de zonas propicia a los ciertos establecimientos. Estadísticas espaciales y geoestadística.
Cados ejercicios empezará por una introducción que estera sucediendo por la realización del ejercicios por los estudiantes. Utilizaremos, en la medida de lo posible, datos locales (al Panama). El curso tentara de seguir, a más no poder, la documentación oficial de ArcGIS con el fin de que los estudiantes continúan de utilizar estas documentación (aún la mejor) después el curso.
