Présentation

Mon programme de recherche porte principalement sur la sylviculture d’adaptation aux changements globaux, dans le but d’identifier des traitements sylvicoles favorisant le rendement en produits de haute valeur, la résistance et la résilience des peuplements à de multiples perturbations et stress climatiques, tout en assurant la conservation de la biodiversité. De manière plus spécifique, mes activités de recherche se divisent en trois volets : le premier volet est consacré à la réanalyse de dispositifs sylvicoles existants afin d’identifier les attributs clés des peuplements qui leur confèrent une forte résistance et résilience. Pour ce faire, je m'appuie sur une approche multidisciplinaire combinant la dendrochronologie et la télédétection pour reconstruire les dynamiques forestières passées. Comme deuxième volet, j’utilise des données climatiques à haute résolution pour incorporer les stress climatiques dans les modèles de croissance forestière conventionnels, dans le but d'affiner notre anticipation de la croissance future et d'adapter les décisions sylvicoles en conséquence. Le troisième volet de mon programme est consacré à la mise en œuvre d'essais sylvicoles en vue de tester et comparer diverses stratégies adaptatives, incluant de nouvelles approches d’éclaircies et de migrations assistées.
